Adorable Page Corner Bookmarks

My husband "stumbled" across this adorable craft project online at http://nheilke.com/blog/?p=2628&cpage.  It's rare that he actually asks me to make him something crafty, so I just couldn't say no. Once he had one, Jeffrey decided he needed one, too. Lots of fun to make and all instructions (including ones for non-monster themed bookmarks...) are located on the original blog.

Happy National Scrapbook Day!!

I was a bit disappointed that I wasn't going to be able to go scrap with my in-person friends to celebrate NSD, but I've got the dining room all to myself for today and tomorrow and plan on doing some projects and challenges at home. I'm following the Fiskateers celebration and think I will try to get in on the blog hop I saw from some of the blogs I follow once I get a few things done. If I start "hopping" now, I'll spend the whole day getting inspired, but won't actually get anything done! Check back later, or check out my gallery on Fiskateers and see if I actually get anything accomplished!

What are you doing to celebrate NSD and then Mother's Day? (The flower above was made for a Fiskateers challenge!)

Flowers for "boy" themed layouts.

I have recently fallen in love with using flowers on my pages. This may not seem so significant for those of you who are adventurous, but I never thought I could use flowers on my pages as my primary layout subjects were always my two boys. I used to look longingly at the packages of flowers and wish I could somehow make them work.

I finally decided that I would at least buy some in case I ever had a girly page to do. It took some courage, but once I did the first boy-themed page with a--GASP--flower on it, I was hooked! I convinced myself that flowers aren't only for frilly girl pages and now I have been using them everywhere. These are two layouts I did that I had so much fun making that I hung them in our side hallway.

Do you have an embellishment or technique you've been afraid to try?

Birthday Giveaway WINNER!!

Congratulations to Kelly Sas--the winner of the pen roll for my birthday giveaway. Thank you all so much for your birthday wishes and encouragement. I had a great couple of days with my boys (hubby and kids...I'm the only girl!) and am ready to face 35 and whatever the year decides to throw at me, though I am hoping for some good things to be thrown my way for a change...

Kelly--please send me a message with your contact info and I will get your pen roll out to you this week. Congratulations!

What paper size do you primarily use?

Are there any 8" x 8" scrapbookers out there?? I started scrapping with 8.5" x 11" but had trouble fitting everything onto each layout, so I moved up to 12" x 12" a few years into my hobby.

I have been working on a Disney scrapbook for just over a year now using an 8" x 8" album that was given to me as a 2009 Christmas gift prior to our February 2010 trip...and I thought I had a hard time fitting everything onto 8.5" x 11"?! I love the album but have been struggling with making pleasing layouts given such a small space to work with. I've created a web album of my Disney scrapbook as it currently stands to show you what I've done so far. If you have any tips on how to get the most out of an 8" x 8" page, I'm all ears! (Mickey Mouse pun most definitely intended!!)

A Birthday Giveaway!

I was dreading my birthday today. I don't quite know why contemplating 35 was hitting me harder than 30 did, but life can be strange like that sometimes. Now that it's actually here, I guess it's not so bad, after all!

For my birthday, I want to do another giveaway, this time for one of my "pen rolls". It is a denim rectangle, lined with a colorful print and an elastic strip to hold your scrapbooking markers, a stylus, paper piercer, etc...it could also be used for crochet hooks or shorter knitting needles. Once full, you roll it up and secure it with two ribbons. Each of my kids has one that they use for colored pencils. I will try to get a picture online later today.

And The Winner Is...

Sorry for the delay in posting the winner of the scrapcatcher--yesterday ended up being insanely busy between hosting an egg hunt, getting ready for Easter and having to bake cakes for the 3-tiered anniversary/Easter cake I'm making (pictures will follow).

Thank you all so much for your comments and suggestions! Using Random.org, the winner is...Victoria's Place! Please send me a message with your mailing information and I will get it out in the mail Monday or Tuesday. I hope everyone has a wonderful weekend and a great holiday if you're celebrating this weekend!
